사업가정신..Sir Richard Branson

제가 개인적으로 존경하는 사업가중에 영국 Virgin Group의 Richard Branson이라는 사람이 있는데 아마 한국분들사이에는 미국인이 아니라 잘 알려져있지 않은듯 한데요...전형적인 자수성가형으로 16세 부터 시작해서 400개 이상의 사업체를 창업한것으로 잘 알려져 있습니다. 사업가로는 드물게 영국 황실로부터 기사작위를 받은것으로도 유명하며, 수많은 사업을 창업하면서 많은 실패를 경험하였으나 항시 안주하지 않고 새로운 사업에 도전하는 모습은 항시 신선하며 많은 교훈을 준다고 하다고 할수 있겠습니다. 현재는 우주관광사업등의 아무도 생각할수 없는 신규사업(?) 과 많은 자선활동으로 시간을 보내고 있는데, 이분이 사업상 매일 발생하는 사업가들의 실수들에 대해는 태도에 대해 생각해 볼점이 많은듯 합니다.

One thing is certain in business – you and everyone around you will make mistakes. When you are pushing the boundaries, this is inevitable – and it's important to realise this. Even when things are running well, there is always the prospect of a new reality round the corner. Suddenly, all the good decisions you made last week are doing you untold damage. What on earth did you do wrong? Failure usually occurs when leaders avoid the reality of business. You have to trust the people around you to learn from their mistakes. Blame and recriminations are pointless.

즉 사업상의 결정의 실수는 언제든지 일어날수 있으며, 특히 사업가가 사업상의 제도적인 굴례를 벗어나려는 경우 는 피할수 없는 결과물이나 이 실수에 대해 비난보다는 배우는 자세가 필요하다는 말이겠지요. Richard가 19세에 Record 수입관세 문제로 구속 위기에 처한 후에는 이를 경험 삼아서 모든사업은 제도권안에서의 사업성의 냉정한 판단력을 가지게 됬다고 하네요. 

TED라는 Website를 보면 세계의 많은 명사들의 Interview를 들을수 있는데, 한국어 자막도 지원되니 한번씩 여러 주제에 대해 다른분들의 식견을 얻을수 있어 좋은듯 해서 추천해 드립니다.
